Training with Beams Foster Care starts right at the beginning of your fostering journey through our Skills to foster course – this course will give you the initial information needed to enable you to decide if fostering is right for you and your family. This course is an introductory course, the course covers the following:
- What do foster carers do?
- Identity and life chances
- Working with others.
- Understanding children in foster care.
- Safer caring.
- Transitions.
All Beams Foster Care carers new to fostering will be provided with an introductory to fostering programme, this programme includes the following:
- Equality and diversity
- GDPR
- Health and Safety
- Internet Safety
- First Aid
- Medication
- Reporting and recording
- Risk management.
- Safer caring
- Safeguarding children
- Self-harming behaviour.
All Beams Foster Care carers are provided with an extensive yearly training offer, covering mandatory courses, workshops, and online courses. Our training programme is bespoke and written in conjunction with our foster carers needs. This includes more specialist and therapeutic courses.
Beams Foster Carer Handbook
All Beams Foster Carer carers have a comprehensive handbook that provides them with a wide range of areas/ topics to read/ review and use as a guide during their fostering career with Beams Foster Care.
