As well as the day-to-day care foster carers provide to the children and young people in their care, they are also expected to attend meetings, complete paperwork and work with a range of professionals involved in the child/ young person’s life.
Fostering can be highly rewarding, and you can make a huge difference to a child/ young person’s life. In your role as a foster carer, you will likely undertake the following:
Helping them learn new skills.
Supporting them in education and helping them bridge some learning gaps.
Giving them new experiences, such as activities and holidays.
Promoting good health and hygiene.
Keeping a track of their journey with you.
Supporting them in their relationships with people that are important to them, including their parents, grandparents, aunties/ uncles, other family members and friends.
