Can I foster?

Fostering is undertaken within your home, a commitment to the child/ young person is needed to ensure all their needs are consistently met to a high standard. You will need to be able to advocate for the child across a wide range of areas of their needs including family time, education, health and their wishes and feelings. All children that are fostered have been removed from their family, they are likely to have suffered loss, separation and they may have attachment challenges and some emotional needs because of this and the trauma that they have suffered. A foster carer needs to be able to provide a secure and stable home for these children and young people to enable them to trust adults, settle and feel safe.
